About Hayley Guglietta

Proven leadership in governance & strategic planning
I have held leadership roles across multiple boards and networks, including the Avon-Ōtākaro Network and the Food Resilience Network and Richmond Community Garden Trust (home of Riverlution). I bring years of experience in translating the community’s needs into strategic plans. I have co-developing five-year strategies, facilitated long-term infrastructure projects, and advocated for better transparent, community-led governance in Christchurch. My real-world experience has given me the skill to read large complex documents and quickly identify where there are problems with strategy and budgets.

An experienced community connector
I deliver major public events like Matariki in the Zone and World Rivers Day to countless community hui and workshops, consistently bringing people together to celebrate, collaborate, share knowledge, and co-create solutions. My communication style bridges community and council, grassroots and government, making complex issues accessible and building trust across a wide variety of diverse groups.

A champion for the environment & regenerative education
I am a passionate environmentalist with a focus on action to solve some of our cities challenges. I have been front and centre advocating for the regeneration of the former residential redzone, I have developed living classrooms like the Riverlution Eco Hub, Adventure Ave and the Ōtākaro Orchard to model sustainable systems. My work has empowered thousands through composting schemes, permaculture workshops, plastics recycling and green infrastructure like swales and living roofs, I empower people to take action in their own backyards and neighbourhoods.

Independent advocate and experienced business leader
With a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Canterbury I am a successful business owner in the IT sector, as well as a key driver behind a number of emerging social enterprises. I know how to balance a budget, manage a team, and what it takes to rally a community together to deliver impact. I advocate for fair, practical solutions and serve as a mediator and mentor, supporting others to lead, grow, and resolve challenges together. My independence will ensure I always votes for what’s right, not what my colleagues are voting for and I am open minded so will collaboratively to achieve the right results.
